Wrapping Up Week 1

So...today has been an eventful day. Well I'll start with last night. Last night was the Tight and Bright Party at Don's Tavern on campus. We planned on going to the night club afterwards as well, so we got all ready (as you will see in the pictures) and we went to the tavern. About 45 mins after we got there, all my non-sleep I have had this week caught up with me and I felt like I was going to pass out. So Susan and I left and went back to sleep. I slept for 12 hours last night and feel SO much better! Got up this morning (or I should say afternoon) and met up with Susan and Tiffany and snuck into their law pizza luncheon so I could eat free pizza which was delicious! Susan and I headed back to the dorms to do some laundry and found out that laundry on campus is FREE! Which is SO amazing. Laundry is never free at college. It was also relatively easy to do which was nice. We actually printed out instructions on how to do laundry off the internet for that certain type of washer and dryer. We assumed it would be quite a task, but in the end we didn't even end up needing it! And oh yes, something I am proud of besides figuring out how to do laundry without instructions is the fact that I navigated our way to the mall yesterday by using a city map in Australia! I'm quite proud of myself. No Nancy the Navigator to help us out (that's what I call my GPS system back home.) I also went and got some travel brochures for places in Australia I wanted to visit so I can start researching them which I'm really excited about! After we finished doing laundry I talked to my parents for about 45 minutes on the phone. I found out my kitty died today...he got really sick on Sunday and we thought he was going to make a recovery but he didn't make it through the night on Tuesday. I wish I could have been home for it, but from what my parents told me, he was happy and purring even though he was really sick. I'll miss my Vander...

On a lighter note, I found $20 on the ground today outside of the dorm which was really nice. We went to the hypnotist we had on campus tonight. I always thought it would be really fun to be hypnotized and when they started asking for volunteers, I tried to get Susan and Tiffany to go up with me but they wouldn't...so I volunteered on my own. There were around 20 students who volunteered, and while the hypnotist sat there and hypnotized us, I didn't feel like it was really working on me, but I felt really relaxed so I thought maybe it would catch on and I would be hypnotized. Long story short, I pretty much sat up there and pretended to be hypnotized for about 30 minutes while they had us do all this crazy stuff like play an imaginary guitar on our butt. I was totally conscious for all of it. I felt bad just walking off stage so I just stayed up there while everyone laughed at us. I kept a straight face for the most part except the part when we were supposed to be pretending to ride a derby horse, and then when the hypnotist told us to pretend to say bye to our derby horse the guy next to me starting rubbing my head and I nearly lost it I was laughing so hard. The hypnotist apparently didn't notice, and I kept looking for the ideal opportunity to get out of it since everything they were having us do kept getting crazier and crazier. About 5 minutes later the hypnotist told us to pretend the person next to us smelled like the best scent they had ever smelled in their life, and the people sitting next to me were sniffing me and the girl next to me was grabbing my ponytail and smelling my hair and going "Mmmm..." and making strange noises, and according to Susan and Tiffany my face turned beet red, and shortly after I just got up and walked off the stage. I was trying so hard to contain my laughter, but the when the hypnotist yelled "Sleep!" the kid next to me fell out of his chair, and I couldn't help myself. Apparently when the hypnotist saw me get up and walk off the stage and sit in the front row, he thought I was still hypnotized and he came up to me and yelled "Sleep!" and put his hands over my eyes and pushed my head down. And I pretended to sleep the first time as long as I didn't have to be on stage. But I "woke up" and was looking around acting to not be hypnotized anymore and hoping he would leave me alone if it was obvious that I was no longer hypnotized but no. He came back over and did it again and yelled "Sleep!" and pushed my head down, and I just immediately opened my eyes and he figured I probably wasn't hypnotized anymore. And let me just say, I am SO glad I was not hypnotized. I feel so terrible for the people who looked back at the end of the night and remembered what they did, which included dirty dancing on chairs, making out with blow up dolls, smoking an invisible joint, and pretending to be a cow getting milked. I'm happy not having those memories, thank you. The finale of the show the people were pretending to be kangaroos in mating season and they had to find the nearest person in the audience to be their kangaroo mate. I was sitting on the front row on the end, so of course a girl came up and started humping me without being consciously aware of it. I'm just glad it's over!

Well I do have more pictures of the tight and bright party and some campus photoes that I will upload!
